Sounds like contacting the companies and requesting a corrected record is appropriate (sure couldn't hurt)...

You'll need to explain the basics of CTC and advise them that your pay for time at labor is not "wages" as an "employee" in "employment" for an "employer" as cited in the code and that you're not engaged in a "trade or business".

That could be sticky as there are a large number of morons in America these days...
